■Y/N's POV■

For the third time I'm looking at the oven, watching the base of a cake I'm about to make. When the sound of the timer rings, I carefully open the oven and pull out the cake, putting it on the counter. Mom came with a bowl of cream in her hands.

Shuri: is it enough sweetie?

Mom holds a spoon of whipped cream for me to taste, the soft and sweet cream spreads inside my mouth, making me smile and nods at my mother.

Y/N: yes mother, it's really good...

Shuri: Thank goodness, I hope it suits Daichi's taste...

Today is Daichi's birthday, and his parents and I are planning to make a small party for him. I've been going out with Daichi for almost two month by now and thankfully both Daichi and I are close to each other parents by now.

Shuri: if we don't have such a big order, i'd be happy to celebrate his birthday too...

Y/N: mother, I should've help out-

Shuri: no! No! No!, you should go and celebrate his birthday, You can help out with tomorrow's order...

Mother smiles at me and I can help but to smile too

Y/N: I will definitely help out tomorrow....

Just then I sense a presence entering the room. Father walks our way and he looks a little down. Well though I said both Daichi's parents and I are close to each other, Father is actually quite, um, strange?

He doesn't dislike Daichi, but sometimes he looks at us with a frown, well before mother smacks him.

Father come closer and then I notice that his hands are behind his back the whole time. He then shows me what he's been holding. It's a paper bag with a gift inside.

Shoji: it's... for Sawamura... Your mother bought thi-

Shuri : Don't be shy an tell her that they're from me, we both bought each of our own present for him...

I can see that father's ears are red, he looks like he was sulking whenever I'm with Daichi, but I know that he doesn't hate him, because before Daichi and I are together, father always compliment how diligent and reliable Daichi is. I feel warm as I take the bag from my father's hand.

My father is so adorable...

I lean closer and kiss my father's cheek. Father looks at me and he looks startled, I give him a smile, showing him how grateful I am.

Y/N: thank you... father...

Father walks past me and start cutting the cake layer.

Shoji: you hurry up and get ready to go to Sawamura parent's house, I'll do the finishing...

Mother is laughing behind him and I can't help but laughs too.

Though he doesn't show it...

I know father likes Daichi just like mom...

■Daichi's POV■

I'm staring at the L/N cookie shop from my post, today they have a big order and that's why they're busy since early in the morning. If I'm not on my morning shift, I'll be happy to help out.

Just then I saw Y/N walking out of the store with her father, they're putting boxes of the orders into the car. I get up from my seat and walk their way, and my eyes meet Y/N's.

Y/N: Daichi, uh- good afternoon...

Daichi: Good afternoon Y/N, good afternoon Mr. L/N... let me help with that...

But after Mr. L/N puts another box in the car, he close the door.

Shoji: no need... that's all for the current batch...

Mr. L/N walks into the driver's seat leaving me with Y/N. I can't help but sigh, it seems like ever sinceI got together with Y/N, Mr. L/N treats me differently.

Could it be that he doesn't approve of our relationship?

When I'm bothered by my thought, I feel someone is right in front of me, and there Y/N is standing so close to me, looking at me worriedly.

Y/N: Daichi? Is anything wrong?

Now you made her worried Daichi

Daichi: No! Nothing's wrong... you're going to deliver the goods I see...

Y/N: yes Daichi.... I'm sorry I didn't stop by at your post this morning...

Daichi: it's alright... I understand that you guys are busy today... please be careful on your way...

Y/N smiles sweetly, making me fall in love with her again and again.

Y/N: yes, well... I'll see you later Daichi...

I watch as the car go and notices that Mr. L/N is looking at me from the side mirror.

Shuri: hihihi...

I look to my side as Mrs. L/N is standing in front of her store.

Daichi: ah! Good mmorning Mrs. L/N

Mrs. L/N comes closer and hits my head lightly with her hand.

Shuri: what's with the Mrs. L/N? I told you to call me mother already...

I can feel my cheeks warmed. Though her father is giving me quite the cold shoulder, Y/N's mother is very welcoming.

Daichi: ah right, sorry mother...

Shuri: now that sounds right... Daichi... don't worry...

Daichi: hmm?

I look at Y/N's mom who's smiling at me and pat my shoulder.

Shuri: my husband just need another push... you won't give up on my daughter just because my cute husband is sulking whenever he sees you, right?

Right...

Actually, I'm quite discouraged whenever I sense that Mr. L/N is givin me the cold shoulder, but just like what Y/N's mother said, I can't back down.

Daichi: no, I will earn his trust... I'll make sure to do my best so Mr. L/N will like me and approve of my relationship with Y/M...

Shuri: hahaha, now that's the spirit... well... though I don't think you need to work hard to achieve that, because my husband is just shy to show how he actually knows that you are a decent man for our Y/N...

Hearing how her mother keep encouraging me makes me calm. Well I hope what she said is true.

I hope, both of her parents approve me being with Y/N...

■3rd Person POV■

It's 6 in the evening, Y/N puts the cake on the table and looks around the room.

Y/N: I think it's done...

In the afternoon, Y/N's father drop Y/N and the cake at Daichi's parent's house before going to actually deliver the order. Y/N and Daichi's mother and siblings decorate the Sawamura family room together, and when Daichi's father got home from work, he helped out too.

Daichi's mom: that cakes looks really good... Daichi will be happy when he sees that you made that cake...

Y/N: ah... actually, my mom and dad helped too...

Daichi's mom: oh my, well that's even better....

Daichi's dad: I'll go call Daichi and told him to stop by after work...

At the same time, in his post, Daichi answers his father calls that tell him to come home. After his shift, Daichi head to his parent's house, it's been a while since he come home to his parent's house.

On his way Daichi couldn't help but think about Y/N because today they only met for a brief moment when Y/N's about to deliver the order. Ever since they got together, the two always spent at least an hour or two together before or after Daichi's shift. Though it was only them walking to a nearby park, or eating at the ramen shop in the neighborhood, but they're content with their time together. And today, Daichi miss seeing Y/N.

He sighs and walks to his house, he puts his hand on the handle and opens the door.

Daichi: I'm home... mom? Dad?

Daichi walks into the living room when

POOF!! CTAAR!!

Confetti flies here and there and Daichi's eyes widened at the sight of his family and Y/N in front of him

Everyone: Happy Birthday Daichi / brother

Daichi: wha- mom, dad, everyone... Y/N wait- why are you he- um I mean weren't you delivering the goods-

Y/N smiles shyly and Dachi's mom puts her hand on Y/N''s shoulder

Daichi's mom: her father drop her off this afternoon...

Daichi's brother1: and she has been helping us with decoration...

Daichi's dad: she also made the cake... it looks good right?

Y/N is flustered by now, her face is red and she looks down before looking at Daichi. Daichi feels his chest is filled with warmth. Daichi can't help it when a smile spreads wide.

Daichi: thank you everyone...

Daichi is still eating cake with his father and he looks at Y/N who's happily talking to his sister while washing the plates. He's happy to see her close with his sibling. After talking for a while, Y/N decides to go back and Daichi will walk her home.

On their way, Y/N hands him the paper bag in her hands

Y/N Daichi... it's from mother and father...

Daichi: ah... thank you, I'll thank them tomorrow...

Y/N: and um... this one is from me...

They stand in front of Y/N's store by now, it's already dark because the store just closed.

Y/N: um Daichi, thankyou for walking me home...

Daichi : no, I'm happy to walk with you... and, thank you for the cake and presents...

Y/N stares at Daichi and smiles at him.

Y/N : Happy birthday Daichi... I wish you'll be healthy and safe all the time, I hope you will always be blessed an happy... I... I love you Daichi...

At the sight of her beautiful face smiling at him, the young officer can't keep himself from leaning closer, and for the second time today, Daichi taste another sweet thing after his birthday cake, Y/N and his first kiss.

When he pulls back Daichi stares at the flustered Y/N who's face just turned into a tomato. He finds this adorable and wraps his arms around her.

Daichi: I'm already blessed, and... I'm happy... thank you Y/N... I'm happy that I got to meet you... and fell in love with you...

The couple share another kiss before parting ways. Y/N buries herself on her bed and rolling around after having her first kiss with Daichi.

On the other hand, Daichi who's jus arrived at his home opens the gift he got from Y/N and her parents. He sees the gift from Y/N's mother, it's a pair of slipper, there's a letter on it.

Happy birthday to our reliable police officer
I hope you'll have a long life and always healthy.
Please hurry up and be my son in law

Daichi's blushing after reading the letter, he is happy to read the letter.

Daichi: please wait mother in law...

With that he opens the second gift, it's from Y/N's father. After opening the wrapper, Daichi sees a box and there's a letter on it. He reads the letter before opening it, a little nervous because it's from Y/N's dad.

You are a police but you stole something from me
But my precious is happily stolen by you so I can't do nothing about it
I know you're not a bad person but I can't help it
You'll be the one who take my Y/N away from me
But you did make her happier this day
So i guess giving you a little present won't be bad

Daichi laughs as he read the unpredictably long letter, he's glad that he knows now that y/N's father doesn't hate him. Daichi opens the box and sees that it's a photo frame but it's upside down. When Daichi turns the photo around his face turns red. It's a photo of Y/N when she's 4, she's smiling at the camera and she looks so adorable. Suddenly Daichi understands why her father became so hostile to him.

Daichi: I... want a daughter...

Daichi couldn't help but thinking that if they're married and have a daughter, she wll looks cute like baby Y/N. And now Daichi is opening Y/N's present. There's a red scarf inside the paper bag, Daichi reads the letter written by Y/N.

This scarf, I made it by myself
I've just learned it recently so I'm sorry if it's not good or uncomfortable

Daichi brings the scarf close to his face and lay on his back on the bed. He hugs the soft scarf that Y/N knitted for him.

Daichi: it's warm... I guess, though I really like it when you take care of me when I'm sick... I hate to your unhappy face so I got no other choice but to be healthy...
